Brown Santa Donations
The Shady Hollow Homeowners Association will again be collecting donations for Brown Santa. Brown Santa started in 1981 with a few deputies helping about 25 families in the unincorporated areas of Travis County. This year, Brown Santa hopes to assist approximately 2,100 families. Please share if you can help make a special Christmas morning for each child.
Brown Santa accepts all non-perishable food items in unopened containers. Please review the expiration dates on all can goods being donated. Some of the main items that are needed for every food box are; corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, instant potatoes, stuffing mix, cake mix and cake icing and a bag of sugar. Each Family that is helped will receive a turkey, and box of non perishable food items.
Brown Santa also gives toys to each child in the family ages 0-14, boys and girls. Donations of books, puzzles, stuffed animals, board games are needed for every age group.
All toy donations need to be new and unwrapped. They do accept very gently used toys if all pieces are present and in excellent shape.
Donations can be brought to the Community Center at 3303 Doe Run Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm until Monday, December 12th. We encourage bringing donations to the Shady Hollow Community Christmas Open House that is scheduled for December 10th from 4-6pm.
Please note - we cannot accept cash donations at the Community Center. In lieu of cash, we can accept grocery store gift cards.
Brown Santa hopes to raise approximately $50,000 in donations to cover the costs for each family to receive a turkey and food box.
And Don't Forget Your Donation for Brown Santa!
